How Much Does an MCP Gateway Cost? List Prices Compared
Vendors price MCP gateways in four ways: open source that you host yourself, a price for each user, a price for each organization, and a price for each tool call. This guide lists the published prices of ten products on 6 October 2026. It calculates the cost for a team of 25 people. It also names the costs that are not on any price list.

Short answer: Prices range from free open source that you host yourself to subscriptions for each user and custom enterprise contracts. List prices on 6 October 2026: TrueFoundry Pro costs $25 for each user each month. Composio Pro costs $29 each month, plus $0.0003 for each tool call above the included usage. Gatana Pro costs $125 each month for each organization. MintMCP, lunar.dev Enterprise and Bifrost Enterprise quote on request.
Four pricing models
| Model | How you pay | Examples | Check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Open source, self-hosted | No licence fee. You pay for compute, storage and operations time | Docker MCP Gateway, Microsoft MCP Gateway, IBM ContextForge, Obot, Bifrost core, lunar.dev MCPX core | SSO, SCIM and audit logs are often in a paid edition. You do the upgrades |
| Per user | A seat price for each month | TrueFoundry Pro, $25 for each user | The bill grows with the number of people. Request allowances apply to each user |
| Per organization | One flat price for each month | Gatana Pro, $125 | Examine the limits that come with the flat price, for example storage |
| Per usage | A price for each tool call or request | Composio, $0.0003 for each tool call above the credit; TrueFoundry, $20 for each 100,000 requests above the allowance | Agents make many calls. Plan for periods of high usage |
Every vendor also has an enterprise tier with a custom price. Single sign-on, SCIM, audit logs and deployment in your own cloud are often in that tier.

We read the pricing page or the repository of each vendor on that date. “Not published” means that the page shows no figure. Prices are in US dollars. We make Gatana.
| Product | Free | Paid list price | Moves to the enterprise tier | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Docker MCP Gateway | Open source, MIT. Runs on the machine of the developer | None | Not applicable | Repository |
| Microsoft MCP Gateway | Open source, MIT. Kubernetes, Azure | None | Not applicable | Repository |
| IBM ContextForge | Open source, Apache 2.0. Docker, Kubernetes, Helm | None | Not applicable | Repository |
| Obot | Open source core | Enterprise on request; no price list found on obot.ai | Not published | obot.ai |
| lunar.dev MCPX | Free plan, up to 50 users on a shared instance, no SSO, no audit logs | Pro, up to 100 users, price not published | SSO and RBAC through your identity provider, self-hosted, licensed for each seat | Pricing |
| Bifrost (Maxim) | Open source core, self-hosted | Enterprise licence, no list price, 14-day trial | Okta and Entra SSO, SCIM, RBAC, audit logs, MCP gateway, VPC isolation | Enterprise |
| TrueFoundry | Developer: up to 3 users, 10,000 requests for each user each month, 7-day log retention | Pro: $25 for each user each month, 20,000 requests for each user pooled, $20 for each 100,000 extra requests | SSO, SCIM, audit logs, VPC and on-premise, data residency | Pricing |
| MintMCP | Not published | Per-user licensing with platform fees; prices not published | SSO and SAML, SCIM, configurable audit logs, OpenTelemetry export | Pricing |
| Composio | Hobby: 100,000 tool calls and 50,000 triggers each month, 3 team members | Pro: $29 each month with a $29 usage credit, then $0.0003 for each tool call | SSO and SCIM, customer-managed keys, compliance agreements | Pricing |
| Gatana | Free: 1 user, 3 enabled servers, Gatana Cloud in the EU | Pro: $125 each month for each organization, unlimited users and servers, SAML, OIDC and SCIM, SIEM streaming, Runnable Code, Tailscale, 20 GiB storage, 14-day trial | Self-hosting on your own Kubernetes cluster, dedicated support | Pricing |
The products are not equivalent. The TrueFoundry seat includes an LLM gateway, and MCP calls count against the same allowance. Composio is a tool platform with connectors, and each call has a price. The open source gateways need a team to operate them. Compare the tier that has the features you need. Do not compare the first price on the page.
A worked example: 25 people, one year
The figures use the list prices above. They assume one million tool calls each month.
| Option | Per month | Per year | Included at that price |
|---|---|---|---|
| TrueFoundry Pro | $625 for 25 seats; 500,000 requests pooled, then $20 for each 100,000, so about $725 | About $8,700 | LLM and MCP gateway. SSO, SCIM and audit logs need Enterprise |
| Composio Pro | $29 plus about $240 for the calls above the 100,000 free calls and the $29 credit, so about $270 | About $3,250 | Connectors and tool platform. SSO and SCIM need Enterprise |
| Gatana Pro | $125 | $1,500 | Unlimited users, SAML, OIDC, SCIM, SIEM streaming, Runnable Code, EU hosting |
| Open source, self-hosted | $0 for the licence. A small cluster and part of the time of one engineer | Hosting plus a share of a salary | Depends on the edition. SSO and audit logs can need a paid edition |
A different team gives a different result. Three developers with no SSO requirement fit a free tier or a local gateway. A thousand people with ten million calls each month must speak with every vendor.
Costs that are not on any price list
- Operations time. A self-hosted gateway needs installation, upgrades, backups and monitoring. Count the hours.
- The enterprise step. The first requirement for SSO or an audit export can move you from a published price to a custom price. Ask for that price first.
- Usage peaks. One agent in a loop can make thousands of calls in an hour. Set budgets where the vendor offers them.
- Egress and storage. Hosted servers, persistent storage and log retention have limits. Read them.
- Support. Email support is usual on self-serve plans. A named contact costs more.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
Is there a free MCP gateway?
- Yes. There are several. Docker MCP Gateway, Microsoft MCP Gateway and IBM ContextForge are open source under MIT or Apache 2.0 licences. You host them yourself. Obot, Bifrost and lunar.dev MCPX have open source cores. Hosted free tiers also exist. Gatana Free supports one user and three servers. Composio Hobby includes 100,000 tool calls each month. TrueFoundry Developer supports three users.
What does an MCP gateway cost for a team of 25 people?
- These figures use the list prices of 6 October 2026. TrueFoundry Pro costs $625 each month at $25 for each user. Composio Pro costs $29 each month, plus $0.0003 for each tool call above the included credit. Gatana Pro costs $125 each month. Open source has no licence fee. You pay for hosting and for the hours to operate it.
Why are SSO and SCIM often extra?
- Most vendors put single sign-on, SCIM provisioning and audit logs in an enterprise tier with a custom price. TrueFoundry, MintMCP, Composio, lunar.dev and Bifrost publish them this way. Gatana includes SAML, OIDC and SCIM in the Pro plan. Ask for the tier that contains these features before you compare prices.
What does self-hosting an open source gateway cost?
- The licence costs nothing. You pay for compute, storage and networking. You also pay for the time to install, upgrade and monitor the service. A small Kubernetes footprint is sufficient for most teams. Features such as SSO and audit logs can be in a paid enterprise edition of the same product. Examine the edition before you rely on them.
Does usage-based pricing matter for agents?
- Yes. Agents call tools much more often than people click buttons. At $0.0003 for each tool call, one million calls cost $300. A request allowance for each user can also run out. Code mode decreases the number of calls. In code mode, the agent runs a script against the tools and does not call them one by one.
How is Gatana priced?
- Free costs $0 for one user and three enabled servers. Pro costs $125 US each month for each organization. It includes unlimited users and servers, SAML, OIDC and SCIM, SIEM streaming, Runnable Code, Tailscale and 20 GiB of storage. A 14-day trial is available without a credit card. Enterprise is a custom price and includes self-hosting on your own Kubernetes cluster.
